Southern Theatre Festival 2026

The Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) invites audiences to experience the “Southern Theatre Festival,” transforming Hat Yai into a citywide theatre from August 24 to September 20, 2026. Performances and activities will take place at Lee Gardens Plaza Hat Yai and venues throughout the city.

Over four weeks, audiences can discover contemporary theatre created by artists and creative practitioners through more than 110 performances across 17 locations. The festival makes performing arts more accessible by presenting a variety of productions in different spaces and environments.

Rather than limiting performances to conventional theatres, the festival brings the arts into public spaces, local communities and the everyday life of Hat Yai. Each performance will offer a new way to explore the city while creating memorable experiences through the power of performing arts.

Festival activities

• Stage productions presented in theatre venues

• Theatre and performances in public spaces

• Contemporary works by artists and creative practitioners

• Talks and discussions exploring perspectives on performing arts

• Workshops for audiences and creative professionals

• A wide variety of additional cultural and creative activities

Get ready for a citywide arts experience that will turn Hat Yai into a theatre and invite audiences to rediscover the city through contemporary performance.
