“Bangkok in Motion: How Rails Shaped the City” is a talk and city exploration program that invites participants to understand Bangkok through the evolution of its rail transport systems — from early tram networks and railway lines to modern urban rail transit.

The program explores how transportation infrastructure influenced urban development, using historical maps, photographs, and social narratives that reflect Bangkok’s transformation across different eras.

The seminar session will provide academic and historical perspectives on Thailand’s rail transport evolution, delivered by transportation historians, railway enthusiasts, and urban storytellers.

Following the talk, participants will join a guided walk exploring Hua Lamphong Railway Station — a living urban heritage landmark — to learn about architecture, urban space usage, and the social stories connected to Thailand’s historic railway hub.

This program is ideal for those interested in urban history, public transportation systems, city planning, architecture, and sustainable urban development.
