The Invisible Heart
River City Bangkok, in collaboration with Pause One and Empathy Gallery, is delighted to present the group exhibition ‘The Invisible Heart’, exploring identity and cultural transformation through the symbolic lens of ancient Siamese Khon masks and Japanese pop art.
In the intertwining currents of globalization and localization, young artists bring unique perspectives to the collision between identity, memory, and geography. The group exhibition ‘The Invisible Heart’ explores the encounters and transformations of different cultures through the artistic lens of the Khon masks (隠れ物), a distinctive symbol of ancient Siamese art.
Using diverse media such as Acrylic, Rock watercolor, glass, and new media art, the exhibition speaks to metaphors of individualism and pop culture through its theme, Invisible Me, Always Yearning for the Tropical Home. Some often-dismissed Cute or Sample pop culture imagery into profound explorations of individuality and freedom. Through vibrant, healing colors and nuanced, thought-provoking narratives, the exhibition delves into the unique aesthetic power of Japanese pop art and its hidden connections to art history.
This summer, join the special exhibition Invisible Heart at River City Bangkok to embark on a deep dialogue about popularity and freedom: A transformative journey where Kawaii pop evolves into speculative pop.
Join us on a journey to the warm tropical South at the exhibition “The Invisible Heart”.
