Suvarnabhumi

เปิดชม 19

‘Suvarnabhumi’—a land of wealth and wonder, etched into the annals of history as a beacon of cultural confluence. It stands as a symbol of the seamless fusion between East and West, a crossroads where art, traditions, and philosophies intertwine, flowing harmoniously across time.

The Suvarnabhumi exhibition delves into the dual forces that have shaped civilizations—two worldviews that, though distinct, have coexisted in a delicate balance. On one side, the Western ethos, driven by reason and the belief that humanity can conquer nature through knowledge and innovation. On the other, the Eastern perspective, where life is a spiritual journey, deeply connected to the natural world in a rhythm of mutual respect—where humans, animals, forests, and rivers thrive as one. This intricate relationship has given rise to rich traditions, exquisite artistry, and a heritage that endures through generations.

More than just an art exhibition, Suvarnabhumi is a dialogue between these contrasting philosophies, inviting visitors to reflect on their own way of life. It urges us to embrace the beauty of differences, the power of unity, and the wisdom of coexistence in an era of rapid change. Perhaps, within Suvarnabhumi, lies an answer—an invitation to rediscover peace and meaning through the eyes and hearts of artists who bridge past, present, and future with breathtaking vision. Suvarnabhumi is not merely a historical tale; it is the golden legacy of a civilization whose brilliance continues to illuminate the world.

About the Artists

1. Kitti Parimaytarchai

With a heart deeply rooted in love and pride for Thai art, Kitti Parimaytarchai has spent over a decade meticulously breathing life into the timeless beauty of traditional Thai painting. Through his brushstrokes, the mystical landscapes of Himmapan Forest and the sacred narratives of the Buddha’s life come alive—echoing the essence of Thai heritage while embracing modern artistic sensibilities. His work is a delicate balance of serenity, simplicity, and profound elegance, capturing the soul of Thai art in every intricate detail. This year, Kitti presents a new chapter of his artistic journey with "Bucha", an exhibition that reflects his evolution in form, technique, and philosophy—an artistic manifestation of spiritual and intellectual refinement.

What sets Kitti’s work apart is his ability to seamlessly weave the grandeur of tradition with a contemporary lens, offering a fresh yet deeply spiritual perspective on Thai art.

“My greatest inspiration comes from the pride of being Thai and the desire to pass this artistic legacy on to future generations. Art is not just about preservation—it must evolve and adapt, serving as a bridge that connects the past, present, and future. Only through reinvention can Thai art continue to flourish.”

2. Anurot Chanphosri

Driven by a profound fascination with the deep-rooted charm of Isaan folk art, Anurot Chanphosri has embarked on a journey across Northeastern Thailand and Laos, exploring traditional artistic sites to draw inspiration from Pha Phra Wetand Hoop Taem—intricate forms of storytelling art shaped by the passage of time. Immersing himself in these cultural treasures, he reinterprets their essence through a personal lens, ensuring that while his work is contemporary, it remains deeply faithful to the spirit of its origins.

At the heart of his artistic expression lies a unique technique he calls "Jara-Batik", a fusion of Jara Bai Lan (a traditional palm-leaf inscription technique) and Batik, resulting in a textured interplay of depth, detail, and emotion. This distinctive approach allows him to translate the timeless beauty of Isaan art into a visual language that resonates with modern audiences while preserving its soul. Through his work, Anurot invites viewers to experience the rich heritage of Isaan in a way that feels both authentic and refreshingly new.

3. Surathin Tatana

For Surathin Tatana, art is more than a creative pursuit—it is a sacred inheritance passed down by parents, mentors, and the master artisans of old. These revered figures, rich in wisdom and artistic spirit, have shaped his journey, instilling in him a profound reverence for the intricate beauty and profound depth of Thai fine arts and painting. Their teachings continue to guide his hand, ensuring that every brushstroke carries the essence of tradition and creative vitality.

To Surathin, art, virtue, beauty, and truth are inseparably linked. He believes that “to be human is to seek goodness, and goodness finds its truest expression through beauty.” This philosophy is the heartbeat of his work, where every line, every hue, and every composition serves as a visual dialogue between aesthetics and the soul. His art is not just a celebration of form but a meditation on the profound harmony between beauty, virtue, and truth—a seamless fusion that speaks to the very essence of our existence.
