First Light: The Joy of Discovery in Contemporary Asia

River City Bangkok, in collaboration with the ALL ABOUT ART from Singapore, is delighted to present ‘First Light: The Joy of Discovery in Contemporary Asia,’ an international group exhibition showcasing ten exceptional emerging artists from five countries.Curated by Jonathan Toh, founder ALL ABOUT ART, “First Light” speaks to the thrill of encountering something new — a first artwork, a first collection, a first encounter with an artist’s voice. This exhibition brings together emerging Thai and Asian artists, to reframe the experience of collecting as something personal, emotional, and joyful, rather than purely speculative or market-driven.

Ten artists—Bakumbaa (Thailand), Egg Fiasco (Philippines), Eggzy (Taiwan), Gwon Shinhong (Korea), Nawat Cubic (Thailand), Peter Rhian (Indonesia), Shin Ye Rin (Korea), Tutu (Indonesia), Warisa Art Studio(Thailand) and Woreum (Indonesia)—were selected to represent the unique voices of the Asian region. Their individual styles and narratives share stories that explore themes of belonging, memory, place, and identity, reflecting the diverse cultures of Asia.

“First Light: The Joy of Discovery in Contemporary Asia” is open from 29 May - 29 June 2025 at RCB Artery, 1st floor, River City Bangkok.
