February 22 - April 27, 2025

At BACC pop up Gallery 1-2 3rd Fl., MMAD at MunMun Srinakarin

The exhibition “Memory Reconstruction” presents the work of 4th-year students from the Department of Art Theory, Faculty of Painting, Silpakorn University. The exhibition explores the process of memory reconstruction by comparing different perspectives and personal biases through contemporary dialogue. Memory, a fundamental particle of human consciousness, serves as a gateway to understanding personal identity, collective heritage, and the ever-changing nature of truth.

Because human memory is not a model of the whole truth, it can sometimes be distorted by the limited perspective of those who were there, the biases or the understanding that occurred at a certain moment. After that, or even the time that has passed until the memory fades, these factors cause the truth stuck in the mind to be different from the truth that actually happened. The truth in a person's understanding is something that can change and flow according to the context of the event. This process occurs with every image that was once stable. Time will make the traces of the differences in memories from the past and present widen the gap until the truth fades away, leaving only the image that is mistakenly thought to overlap perfectly.

The paintings, sculptures, installations and sound art presented in this exhibition seek to explore the processes before reality disappears, presenting the artists' first-hand experiences during their conceptual reconstruction. Moving from abstract ideas to concrete works, the audience is encouraged to explore, reflect on our perceptions of reality and consider the fragility of memory.
