Um Phra Dam Nam Festival 2026

Experience one of Phetchabun’s most treasured traditions at the Um Phra Dam Nam Festival 2026, taking place from October 8–17, 2026, at various locations across Phetchabun Province.

The festival centers on Phra Buddha Maha Thammaracha, the revered Buddha image of Phetchabun and a spiritual symbol for local communities. Its main ceremony features a river procession followed by the sacred Um Phra Dam Nam ritual at Wat Bot Chana Man Pier.

This year places special emphasis on Wat Traiphum, the birthplace of the tradition and the temple where Phra Buddha Maha Thammaracha is enshrined. The image will be displayed for public worship and the application of gold leaf. Educational, artistic and cultural activities will also be organized for children, young people and the general public.

October 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

A ceremonial dance honoring Phra Buddha Maha Thammaracha at Phetchabura Buddhist Park, also known as the Big Buddha.

October 10, 2026

• 9:09 a.m. – Worship ceremony honoring sacred beings at Wat Traiphum

• 6:00 p.m. – Procession carrying Phra Buddha Maha Thammaracha around Phetchabun. Performances and the opening ceremony can be viewed in front of Wat Mahathat Royal Monastery and Phetchabura Public Park.

October 11, 2026, the 15th waning-moon day of the tenth lunar month, at 10:09 a.m.

The Buddha image will travel in a river procession from Wat Traiphum Pier to the sacred Um Phra Dam Nam ceremony at Wat Bot Chana Man Pier.

October 12, 2026

A distinctive upstream rowing competition featuring short-boat and long-boat categories at Wat Traiphum Pier.

October 11–15, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.

A light and sound performance presenting the legend of Um Phra Dam Nam on the central stage in front of the Chalerm Rajakumari Public Library.

October 8–17, 2026

The Clean Food Good Taste fair, a shopping caravan, free concerts and nightly entertainment at the Phetchabun Intrachai Archaeology Hall.
