Sakon Nakhon Vesak Festival 2026

The Sakon Nakhon Vesak Festival 2026 is an important Buddhist and cultural event held to preserve the province’s meaningful traditions and invite Buddhist devotees and visitors to take part in merit-making activities on Vesak Day.

The festival takes place at significant locations in Mueang Sakon Nakhon District, including the King Rama V Monument Plaza, Wat Phra That Choeng Chum Worawihan, and Wat Pa Sutthawat. It brings together Buddhist ceremonies, local cultural performances, community identity, and the spiritual beauty of Sakon Nakhon.

Key Highlights & Activities

A major highlight of the festival is the lotus lantern procession from all 18 districts of Sakon Nakhon. This beautiful procession reflects local faith, community unity, and the unique cultural heritage of the province.

Visitors can also join the sacred ceremony of offering a ceremonial robe to Phra That Choeng Chum, followed by a candlelight procession around the pagoda. The event also features cultural performances, CPOT community product booths, Dhamma sermons, and morning alms-giving activities.

Participants are encouraged to wear white-toned Thai traditional outfits or white meditation attire to join the merit-making activities and experience the beauty of Tai Sakon culture in a peaceful and meaningful atmosphere.
