“Phra That Cho Hae Worship Tradition, Phrae Province, Tung Luang Procession” is a tradition that has been practiced for a long time. The event is scheduled to start on the 9th waxing moon day of the 6th northern month (4th southern month) according to the lunar calendar. This is considered the time when Buddhists from all directions travel to worship Phra That Cho Hae with the belief that the relics of the Lord Buddha will miraculously appear and spread their power to bring good fortune to those who come to worship. With strong faith and belief, this tradition has been passed down from generation to generation until it has become an important identity of Phrae Province. 


A grand event with an elephant procession, a procession of worship items from 8 districts, a procession to trace the footsteps of Khru Ba Sriwichai, the restoration of Phra That Cho Hae, a procession of dancing to pay homage to Phra That Cho Hae, the organization of cultural activities in Muang Pae, a light, sound and mixed media show to trace the footsteps of Khru Ba, and cultural competitions such as the worship drum beating contest with creative dancing, the Phrae drum dancing contest, the country music singing contest with backing dancers, the auspicious tung contest, the Mahachat sermon contest, and the competition of male and female lay devotees in the Year of the Tiger.
